Yin Yang

Everybody has an individual balance of Yin and Yang. In an energetic, lively, noisy person, it is clear that they are dominated by Yang, while a shy and closed person is dominated by Yin. In saying this, it is easy to understand that a shy, withdrawn person should feel uncomfortable in a home or office that is dominated by Yang and vice versa. Before embarking on transforming your office or home, it is important that you know exactly what it is you are trying to achieve, as a simple change of wallpaper can disrupt the balance of Yin and Yang.

It is important to first study the environment at your home or office, and consider all possible contradictions between Yin and Yang. If you find any, the next step is to determine how much the balance of Yin and Yang has been disturbed, and then lastly, aim at improving the situation and the balance. Until you have achieved a good balance of Yin and Yang, you will not feel at peace and you will not achieve success. This means that you will not achieve success until you correct these errors.

If it is the Yang energy that you seek to dominate in a room or office, the following tips and ideas are a sure way to get started.

. Firstly, it is important to have the room well lit.

. Adding the presence of water, either a water feature or even a fish tank.

. Adding movement and sound, such as a wall clock.

. Adding a few houseplants.

. If the room or office is painted white or grey (white is a symbol of death), you can add paintings and pictures to liven the room up.

It is important not to overdo it, as you may find you will have introduced too much Yang energy into the room and you could soon find yourself agitated and on your nerve.

A person’s bedroom needs to give a feeling of tranquility, calm and rest, and should be dominated by Yin energy. Having too much Yang energy in the bedroom can lead to a rather negative effect on one's sleep. Should your bedroom and office be in the same room, it is a good idea to separate the two by using a room divider and decorating them appropriately – the sleeping and resting area with Yin energy and the working area in Yang energy.
