The writer Ernest Hemingway, besides for his dramatic fate, is historically remembered for his emblematic works. Hemingway himself followed several tips with which he encouraged his creativity.

Stand up

"Never sit at a table when you can stand at the bar, " said Hemingway. He believed that standing upright increased his productivity, kept him at the ready and allowed him to better observe people.

Carefully choose the people around you

"Never go on trips with anyone you do not love, " advised the American writer. For Hemingway it was important to surround yourself with the right people in order to boost creativity and the chances for success.

Always write down your ideas on paper

Ernest Hemingway always thought that carrying a few pencils with you was a job well done. He would always write down his ideas, then perfect them. This increases productivity several times over, show modern studies.

Only do what you are truly good at

"You shouldn't write if you can't write, " Hemingway was adamant, advising people to only focus on activities they can actually do. You shouldn't deny the obvious, find your inborn talent and use it.

Practice your writing

When I found myself in this room I decided to write one story about each of the things in it I was familiar with. I try to do this all the time, as this requires iron discipline, shared Hemingway. No matter what you do, you need to practice constantly so that you keep getting better.

"The first draft of anything is shit, " admitted Hemingway. Don't be afraid of failure and even if something doesn't turn out right the first time, try again.
