Another odd occasion was that of the Mary Celeste, having being abandoned by all man on the coast of Portugal it seems impossible for the Mary Celeste to appear with no man on board, the rumors said it had something to do with the mysterious area of the Atlantic Ocean.
First mentioned by Christopher Columbus in his diary, he talks of the Sargasso Sea, which is located right in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Columbus remembered that his compass was not working as it should and the crew assumed to have seen strange sights.
1918 seen the next disappearance when USS Cyclops set sail from Barbados to Brazil, never to be seen again not even reaching its destination.
From the year 1948 a series of planes disappeared, first starting with one approaching Miami, after the pilot asked for directions of where to land he wasn't to be seen or heard again, he and his plane simple disappeared. The same year and the year after, two more planes disappeared without trace and no reason of possible accidents were reported.
1963 brought another tragedy, the SS Marine Sulpher Queen, heading to Virginia simply vanished. One life jacket was found then the continued search revealed a leakage of Sulpher was responsible for the deaths.
Theories
The mystery surround the Bermuda Triangle was truly unexplainable but most like to cherish the idea of blaming extraterrestrial creatures. Some made claims of seeing UFO'S while others claimed the area was simple haunted. There were even suggestions that the missing people were still alive only living in a different time giving question to warping! The mysterious lost City of Atlantis was also linked to the Bermuda Triangle again due to location.
Even scientists have searched and still are searching for an explanation or explanations as to why these strange, chilling events have occurred. As researchers at the Cardiff University had shown, methane gas is largely present on the sea floor, gas which is produced by the dead bodies of ocean creatures. Some eruptions of methane are possible, which can be the cause of accidents. As planes can catch fire due to such unpredictable explosions, this could be the right explanation.
Weather in the Bermuda Triangle is that of most unpredictable nature. Underwater earthquakes provoke the highest of waves, deep trenches able to drag anything down when a sudden change of climate occurs, and yes this does include ships and planes. A waterspout often occurs without warning and this also can drag a ship down the ocean floor. Also it is true to the word of those who claim to have experienced it. Magnetic differences are also given to this weird area of our world therefore giving different compass readings to normal ones. This strangely affected ocean was once filled with pirates and enemy ships during wars that had all the reasons to drawn other ships and leave nothing behind.
