Is our Universe in Fact a Complex Hologram?

It is highly likely that our Universe may in fact be a holographic model, as shown by the latest scientific observations. This view has been reached after juxtaposing some older data about our Universe.

Head of the study is Prof. Niayesh Afshordi from the University of Waterloo. He states that their analyses could lead to new insight into the Big Bang and quantum gravity, as reported in the Physical Review Letters journal.

By analyzing the cosmic microwave background (CMB), the authors of the study say that they've found the first proof of a holographic Universe.

This theory was first proposed in the in the 1990s and states that everything we see or feel is distributed in 3 dimensions.

The 3D images are coded onto a 2D surface - the same holographic principle used in credit cards.

The difference between 3D movies and the hologram of our Universe lies in the projection. We can touch the objects from our point of view, state researchers.

Universe

According to this idea, time and space are not clearly defined. The cosmic microwave background began radiating information about the models of our Universe shortly after its formation.

Scientists' observations over the past few years have enabled them to discover new data about microwaves from the early periods of the Universe. With this information we'll be able to make more complex comparisons with quantum theory.

"Holography is a huge step forward in the way we think about the structure and creation of the Universe. Einstein's theory of relativity explains nearly everything that's large-scale in the Universe quite well but begins to fall apart when we delve into the origins and mechanisms at the quantum level, " explains Prof. Skenderis.

For decades, scientists have been trying to incorporate the theory of gravity with Einstein's quantum theory and some believe that if the Universe were presented as a hologram, it would perfectly combine both concepts.
