Germs and the Tyrannosaurus

Simple single-celled parasite of the genus Gallinae Trichomonas is the main culprit for the disappearance of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, say paleontologists from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Experts studied more than 60 skulls of the Tyrannosaurus and found holes in their jaws which are not traces of its kind or other giant dinosaurs.

Scratches proved to be screened to ensure normal ancient parasites.

The diameter of the holes is 0, 5 to 2, 5 cm and their depth reaches 1 cm just the same parasites were found in the beaks of modern birds.

Interestingly, these microbes are in pigeon feathers but these symptoms of the disease are not obvious.

When birds of prey such as falcons and hawks beaks are strongly affected by the invasion of germs. The microbe infects tissue of the mandible and the back of the throat in a similar way that would have affected the jaws of the Tyrannosaurus rex.

Previously, scientists thought that the scratches on the skull of monitor lizards were left over from their battles with other giants.

Experts suggest that the Tyrannosaurus Rex were dying in hellish torment because of the germs.
