Some of the most celebrated artists, great minds and leaders in the history of mankind have left this world without ever having sex, preserving their chastity from birth until death.
Immanuel Kant
The only passion in the life of German philosopher and author of Critique of Pure Reason was his work and scientific research. This led him to remaining a virgin until the end of his life but most likely also helped his prosperity in philosophy.
Isaac Newton
The laws discovered by Isaac Newton have laid the foundation for modern physics but the peculiar mind of the English scientist also made him antisocial, leading him to spend the majority of his life alone, without having sex.
Lewis Carroll
The children's book writer and author of the classic Alice in Wonderland also left our world without ever having sex.
Hans Christian Andersen
Another influential author of children's literature also died as pure as any child. It is thought that Andersen had an irrational fear of women, which was why he avoided them.
It has also been proposed however, that Hans Christian Andersen was a homosexual. His biography tells that after he met Charles Dickens, the Danish man became obsessed with him, and one of his visits to the English writer's home lasted an entire 5 weeks, with Andersen refusing to leave, despite the numerous hints made by the remaining members of the family.
Elizabeth I Tudor
The daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn died a virgin; even while still alive she was known as the Virgin Queen among her subjects. Elizabeth refused to share power with a man when she gained the English throne and turned down all marriage proposals.
Despite this, her rule was considered a Golden Age of British history.
Joan of Arc
She was also known as The Maid of Orléans. According to modern historical analyses, Joan of Arc suffered from Morris' syndrome which interfered with her libido.
