Scientists are convinced that the mystical yeti creature, also known as the Abominable Snowman and Bigfoot, inhabits several continents.
In 2012, tourists were hiking in a forest in the Russian Kemerovo Oblast. While they were walking amongst the trees and chatting, their good mood was suddenly spoiled by a sinister encounter. Suddenly, an unknown, mysterious creature jumped in front of them from out of the bushes; it looked like a cross between a man and a bear. Once it saw the tourists, it roared fiercely.
Luckily for the hikers, the camera which one of them had been carrying seemed to frighten the bloodthirsty creature and it ran off somewhere. As soon as they recovered from the encounter with the frightening beast, they noticed that footprints of their new "acquaintance" had been left on the ground. They were particularly unusual and definitely did not belong to any animal they had ever seen so far. What's more, they reached nearly 19 3/4″ (50 cm) in length.
The experts are convinced that the forest creature which scared the tourists was in fact a yeti. In addition, according to scientists, Bigfoot has been in Kemerovo Oblast for a long time, which is why there are so many cases of encounters with this terrifying creature in those lands. A yeti was first encountered in 1949 by the locals there. The unusual creature was spotted by residents from the town of Tashtagol.
In 1957, people from the same populated area saw 2 more similar individuals. The stories go that a hairy, adult creature and its little one were hunting fish at the river. According to the locals, there are at least 6 different types of yetis.
Some time later, a large skeleton was uncovered in the Azasskaya Cave in Kemerovo Oblast. It was first examined by Russian expert Valentin Sapunov. After detailed analysis of the skeleton, the scientists concluded that this was in fact a unique biological species, inhabiting America and Eurasia, and plus, claims of yeti encounters often come from the US and Russia.
Valentin Sapunov believed that there are around 30 000 Abominable Snowmen (Yetis) in the world. According to him, they live in groups and that is why the species has managed to survive.
