14. The Norwegian lives next to the blue house.

15. The man who smokes Blend has a neighbor who drinks water.

The question is: who owns the fish?

Fishy

Solution:

The riddle can be solved by the process of elimination. The Norwegian lives in the 1st house. It is not red, white or blue - that leaves green or yellow. There is no way for it to be the green one, because it is before the white and blue house, which leaves yellow. From this we know that the Norwegian smokes Dunhill. He doesn't drink milk, tea, coffee, or beer, which leaves water. He doesn't own a dog, horse, bird - which leaves the cat or fish.

The Dane - smokes Blend, owns the horse, house № 2, which is blue, drinks tea.

The Brit - lives in the red house. He doesn't own a dog or horse. He doesn't drink coffee, tea, water, leaving milk and beer. He doesn't smoke Dunhill, Blend or Rothmans - that leaves Pall Mall and Winfield. His house number can be either 3 or 5. If he drinks milk that means he smokes Pall Mall and is in the center house. If he smokes Winfield, it means he's in house № 5 and drinks beer.

The German - he smokes Rothmans, doesn't drink beer, water or tea - leaving coffee and milk. He is living in either the green or white house. He doesn't own the bird or horse. He is not in house № 1 or 2. If he lives in the green house that means he drinks coffee, which might be house № 4. Clue number 4 prevents him from being in house № 5. If he lives in the white house, it's either № 4 or № 5. But he can't be in house № 5 because then he would have to be smoking Winfield. That leaves № 4. Since we know that the person in the green house doesn't drink milk, this leads us to conclude that the green house is № 4. This means that the solutions for the German are: Rothmans, green house № 4, coffee.

The Swede - he owns a dog, lives in either the green or white house. He doesn't smoke Rothmans, Blend, Dunhill - leaving Pall Mall and Winfield. He doesn't drink water or tea. So, he's in house № 5, which is white, smokes Winfield, drinks beer.

For the Brit, the solutions are: Pall Mall, milk, bird owner.

Because of clue number 10 and the fact that the Brit, who is a bird owner, lives next to the Dane, this leads to the conclusion that the Norwegian owns the cat.

Therefore, the German owns the fish.
